Beneficiary Ambassadors Update

Beneficiary Ambassadors Update

Our Beneficiary Ambassadors are an essential part of the Opportunity Nottingham Team. Their work informs project development and also contributes to wider Nottingham City work and multiple and complex needs work at a national level.

During 2016 to date, the Beneficiary Ambassadors have engaged in a range of consultation and networking activity. Earlier in the year they presented The Pledge to all Framework Housing Association Services and they are now working on the roll-out of this piece of work alongside our Expert Citizens.

Beneficiary Ambassador Sandra, is currently focusing on the set-up of a female only Expert Citizen Group. This will enable female Beneficiaries for whom a mixed gender group is not appropriate to have their say within an environment they feel comfortable in.

At a national level, earlier in the year, the team were consulted on 'Roads to Recovery' as part of the Home Office National Drug Strategy. They also attended the All Party Parliamentary Group on 'Complex Needs and Dual Diagnosis' at the House of Lords with MEAM. They attend events ran by other projects on the National Fulfilling Lives programme, and they are also very involved with the National Expert Citizens Group.

At a local level, they have been consulted with regarding the local Health and Wellbeing Strategy, and the local Clinical Commissioning Group have also sought their views on engagement with service-users. They have also met with a consultant psychiatrist to develop working links with Mental Health Service providers.
