Mental Health Focus
Lisa was referred to Opportunity Nottingham whilst in hospital. One of our Personal Development Coordinators (PDC) met with her and immediately focused on gaining her trust, whilst arranging accommodation in a supportive setting ready for her discharge from hospital. This was important because it enabled Lisa to experience some stability, and her PDC was then able to actively support her on a day-to-day basis. This support involved attending hospital appointments with Lisa, and ensuring that prescribed medication was collected and taken to improve and sustain her mental health. This approach enabled Lisa to be more trusting of services, and feel motivated to take her medication so that she felt well. In doing so, Lisa has avoided further hospital admissions. She has also avoided drug and alcohol use for three months and continues to do well.
